Expertise becomes capacity when it is shared

ARI is built on a network of founding volunteers who combine technical expertise with community commitment.

Why volunteering matters at ARI

Volunteering here is not a peripheral contribution — it is the mechanism through which the institution itself is built. Every environmental or community project requires precise technical knowledge, the ability to coordinate with local communities, and the capacity to connect that work to a long-term development strategy.

Through volunteering, individual expertise — in forestry, health, education or finance — becomes a collective institutional capacity able to deliver an integrated, sustainable recovery model.

What we ask

A clear commitment, realistically set

Joining ARI as a volunteer doesn’t require prior institutional experience, but it does require a clear commitment and the ability to work within a team distributed between Sudan and the diaspora.

We ask each volunteer to identify the area that fits their expertise, and the time commitment they can realistically sustain — whether that’s a few hours a week or task-based contributions. Volunteering with ARI means helping build something from the ground up as part of a founding team, which carries more responsibility than typical short-term volunteering.
